Day 1 Madurai
Madurai, beautiful temple town of Tamil Nadu. Meenakshi Amman temple is the main attraction of Madurai. The temple was built by the Pandya dynasty in the 6th century BC, but underwent significant renovations and expansions during the reign of various rulers. Temple is renowned for its Dravidian-style architecture, intricate carvings and stunning sculptures, The temple complex covers around 14 acres and has 14 gopurams. Other attraction is Thirumalai Nayakar mahal built by Thirumalai Nayakar and it is 1 ½ km from the temple.
Day 2 Rameswaram
Rameswaram is 12th century Ramanathaswamy Temple build by Pandya Dynasty dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. it is considered to be one of the holiest places in India to Hindus, and part of the Char Dham pilgrimage. It is said that this is the place from where the Hindu god Rama built a bridge across the sea to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita from her abductor Ravena
Other attractions are Pamban Railway and Roadway Bridge which connects the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland
Dhanush Kodi an abandoned town at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island The town was destroyed during the 1964 cyclone.
